Since the early 70ties Michael has taught with his wife Kathleen at the MOS Academy in Essex, London.

He was a pupil of Sheila Clerkin in London.

As well as teaching, he is adjudicating worldwide, usually at major championships, world qualifyings and at the Worlds, and he is also an grade examiner for TCRG candidates.

Together with his wife he has raised 6 kids, all of whom are champion dancers. Katie & Darren have already passed their TCRG. Darren passed his ADCRG. Sean, already at 12 known from his parts in Eastenders and Grange Hill, won the Great Britains at 14, placed 4th in the World and is now working as a actor for film and TV in Hollywood. Darren and Michael jr. both danced lead roles in Riverdance, and Ciárán danced the male lead roles in Magic of the Dance for many years. Youngest daughter Ellie, 3 time World Champion retired from competitive dancing summer 2006. She is now teaching with her parents in London as well as touring with Riverdance.

The MOS Academy currently has over 200 dancers, many of whom are World-, All Ireland-, European- an North American Champions.
